Hannan Center: located in Detroit on Woodward Avenue, develops and provides programs and services that meet the changing needs of seniors and promotes creative and purposeful activity that enriches the lives of older adults.

Wayne State University: is proudly located in the heart of Detroit with a mission to create and advance knowledge and prepare a diverse student body to thrive, and positively impact local and global communities. SOAR was born from the faculty of Wayne State University and the university remains a SOAR partner committed to lifelong learning programs for adults of any age!

Elderhostel / Road Scholar is the not-for-profit world leader in educational travel since 1975.

The Southeast Michigan Senior Regional Collaborative: a SOAR Community Access Project partner, is a 30+ member organization comprised of nonprofit agencies and public sector organizations who advocate for and address the needs of the rapidly growing aging population in Southeast Michigan.

Jewish Senior Life: a SOAR Community Access Project partner, is a nonprofit organization providing residential communities and facilities dedicated to providing a place where older adults can embrace life and community in a secure and supportive environment.

PACE Southeast Michigan: provides senior community members with care, medical treatment and support to achieve the highest quality of life – while staying independent as long as possible.

AARP: empowers people to choose how they live as they age, leading and delivering to members through information, advocacy, and service.

Area Agency on Aging 1-B | Senior Support Resources | AAA 1-B (aaa1b.org): provides support for older adults, people with disabilities and family caregivers to help them to remain living independently and with dignity in their own home or with family caregivers in southeast Michigan (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties).

Greg Kowalski: is executive director of the Hamtramck Historical Museum, and has written many local history books, including “Prohibition in Hamtramck: Gangsters, Gunfights and Getaways.”

Marney Rich Keenan’s “The Snow Killings”: shares the disturbing story of four children who were held captive and murdered in 1976 and 1977 and the manhunt for their killer.

Jack Lessenberry, a writer for many national and regional publications and one of SOAR’s most popular faculty members, publishes a blog and podcast.

Faculty member Aaron Retish, a specialist in late Imperial and Soviet history, serves on the board of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Association which presents programs, meetings, and literature about the Lincoln Brigades involvement in the Spanish Civil War.
