Snow and Inclement Weather Policy

When the weather outside is frightful, here’s how to know whether or not to head to your SOAR classes, field trips, or special events….

SOAR will close if snow or inclement weather makes travel unsafe. Our general policy is that SOAR will close its offices and cancel its programs at all locations if the Farmington public schools close. School closings are announced on all major television and radio stations. So to find out if Farmington schools are closed, check local media on air or at their websites:

Closing information will also be announced in the scrolling box at the top of the SOAR homepage at

Remember: In the event of a closing, nobody will be in the SOAR office to answer the telephone. So members are asked not to call the SOAR office for closing information but rather to watch/listen to public communication systems.

Because weather and travel conditions vary by geographic area, even if the Farmington schools are not closed, the decision to travel and attend class is ultimately the member’s decision to make.
